The Review about Lensun 80W Flexible Solar Panels on Amazon, Lensun Solar
We get more feedbacks about Lensun Flexible Solar Panels on Amazon. We are very happy that Neil love our flexible solar panels. He purchased two 80W flexible solar panels with fiberglass backs last Fall. He used them when ever possible, and they’ve been deployed on and around his vehicle at least 60 times.
Coupled with a Victron 100/50 MPPT controller and a 100Ah LiFePo4 battery, he has been able to be out “boondocking” in the field doing technology research and software development for weeks at a time in the Western U.S. The panels have been able to consistently and reliably generate over 150W if he keeps them generally facing the sun.

These panels really fit my needs, and perform at least as well as advertised.
Long story short:
* These panels are a great piece of technology.
* If you’re not going to permanently mount these? Better figure out some cable strain relief from day one.
The long story.
Bought these in August of 2016. As far as the technology, they’re great panels.
Use environment
I used these panels as a mobile solar generator to fill a 100Ah 12V LiFePo4 battery. In normal weather I’d put them on the roof of my van, and if I really needed power, propped a box or something to angle them more toward the sun (always making sure any bow was toward the back of the panel).
In high winds I put them on the ground, and if feasible, angled them toward the sun.

Light weight, easy to move, easy to stow.
Paired with a Victron BlueSky MPPT controller? I was getting 150W of power and over 9 Amps when pointed loosely at the sun, even in late afternoon in the Fall. (I went through two different model EPSolar Tracers and just wasn’t getting great results.)
The So-so:
By the end of October I’d been out boondocking a bit and had deployed these panels on the roof and around the van 40-50 times. I noticed I could clearly see the end of the wire insulation, and 1/4″ of bare wire at the junction box. A good 1/4″ visible tin on both wires at the junction box on one panel, and the same visible but on only one wire on the other panel.
The Warrantee:
I wrote Lensun, sent them pictures of the offending cables and junction boxes, explained how I used the panels, and asked if this was covered under the 2 year warrantee for materials and workmanship. Answer: Nope. (Good for them actually. I’ve hear many rave about how great their warrantee is, but their issues were in the solar cells themselves. The was just an issue caused by a use case they didn’t foresee. (and rightfully, probably don’t want.)
Even though these panels are pretty much a solid piece of kit, constant movement is not it’s engineered use case, and the first place it showed for me is where the wire meets the junction box.
